LotWalk Feature

The dashboard shows the numbers. Your Performance Engineer makes them move.

Every LotWalk dealer gets a dedicated 1-on-1 Performance Engineer: a former dealer, GM, or used car manager who reviews your live numbers with your manager, writes the game plan, and opens the next call by checking every commitment. Weekly on Pro, monthly on Plus. The tool and the coach are the same subscription.

What is a LotWalk Performance Engineer, and why does software need a coach?

A LotWalk Performance Engineer is the dedicated 1-on-1 coach included with every LotWalk subscription. Performance Engineers are former dealers, GMs, and used car managers who know your market, not just national averages. In a weekly (Pro) or monthly (Plus) working session, they review your LotWalk numbers with your manager, write a game plan, and open the next call by checking every commitment. Software needs a coach because software does not fail. Adoption does. The Performance Engineer is the reason your team acts on the data instead of sitting on it.

The problem

Software doesn't fail. Adoption does.

Walk into almost any dealership and you will find a CRM, a pricing tool, a DMS, and at least one dashboard somebody pays for every month. None of them are broken. Most of them are barely used past the first 90 days.

Here is why. None of those tools tells the used car manager what to do at 8 AM on Monday. They show data. Somebody still has to turn the data into a list, hand the list to the team, and check on Friday whether the list got worked. When that somebody is the GM, it happens for two weeks and then a busy month arrives. The plan dies by Wednesday because nobody is on the hook for it.

That is the gap LotWalk was built to close. The software builds the list every morning (the daily Action Plan: which cars to work, which leads to call, which reps to push). The Performance Engineer is the person on the hook for making sure it gets worked. Your managers get held to it so you do not have to stand over it.

The Accountability Loop

What a Performance Engineer actually does.

Every coaching call runs the same loop. It is simple on purpose. Simple is what survives a busy month.

01

Reviews the numbers with your manager

The coach and your used car manager open the same LotWalk screens together: the At Risk buckets, sale rate against goal, the units with no leads in seven days, and the Scoreboard's user table showing who actually logged in and worked cars last week. No slide deck. Live data, your store.

02

Writes the game plan

Before the call ends, the coach writes down the moves: which aged units get repriced, which segments LotStock says to cut or reinvest in, which reps need a conversation, and what the BDC works from the Switch Leads list. On Pro, that written game plan lands after every call.

03

Opens the next call by checking every commitment

The next call starts with last call's list. Done, not done, why not. That single habit is what turns a coaching call into an accountability system. Over about 90 days, the coach installs the habits of the top 10% of stores. Most stores see measurable change in 30 days.

Who the coaches are

People who have run a used car department.

Lotpop coaches are former dealers, GMs, and used car managers. They have carried a floorplan, sat at the desk on a slow Saturday, and had the aged-unit conversation with a salesperson who did not want to have it. When they look at your At Risk view, they see a lot they have stood on, not a chart.

That matters because your market is not the national average. A Performance Engineer learns your market, your price point, your competitive set, and what turns for you. The advice is built on your LotWalk data, not on a generic playbook.

It also matters what a Performance Engineer is not. Not an algorithm. Not a help desk ticket. Not a chatbot. Not a quarterly QBR where a vendor rep reads you your own usage report. Not a consultant who drops a checklist and disappears. It is one real person, assigned to your store, who knows your numbers and shows up on schedule.

The model comes from Jasen Rice, Lotpop's founder and CEO. Jasen spent 29 years on dealer lots and trained thousands of used car managers at vAuto before founding Lotpop in 2013. The LotWalk premise came out of those years: software only pays off when a coach is holding the team to it. Meet the Lotpop team →

What dealers say

The coaching is the part they talk about.

Before Lotpop, we never saw our data like this. Now inventory and CRM sit together, we make quick decisions that move cars faster, and we keep nothing aging.

Roy Reutter, Dealer Principal

The data we need to make excellent decisions in a complex, competitive environment. I'd recommend Lotpop to any dealer looking to level up.

Rob Ruth, Dealer Principal, Bob Ruth Ford

23 years in the car business and a lot of vendors. Lotpop is second to none. The one-on-one attention is phenomenal.

Jason Hagan, Used Car Director

Coaching plus the First 30 Challenge

Want to see how Jasen coaches before you subscribe?

The First 30 Challenge is a separate Lotpop program: one day in person at Lotpop HQ in Olathe, Kansas, followed by 30 days of accountability with Jasen Rice on the plan you build that day. It is open to any used car manager or GM, LotWalk client or not. It runs on the same premise as the Performance Engineer: a plan is only worth what somebody holds you to. If you want to experience that before committing to a subscription, this is the shortest path. Learn about the First 30 Challenge →

FAQ

Coaching questions we get on every Lot Audit.

What is a LotWalk Performance Engineer?
A Performance Engineer is the dedicated 1-on-1 coach every LotWalk dealer gets with their subscription. They are former dealers, GMs, and used car managers. On a weekly (Pro) or monthly (Plus) working session they review your live LotWalk numbers with your manager, write the game plan, and open the next call by checking every commitment. They are the accountability layer that gets your team to act on the data.
Is coaching included in the LotWalk price, or is it extra?
Included. The tool and the coach are the same subscription. LotWalk Plus ($995 per month per department) includes a monthly 1-on-1 coaching call. LotWalk Pro ($1995 per month per department) includes a weekly call with a dedicated Performance Engineer, a written game plan after every call, direct text and email access between calls, and team training. Every plan includes the full software. The only difference is coaching cadence.
How often do I talk to my Performance Engineer?
Weekly on Pro (48 calls a year) or monthly on Plus (12 calls a year). Pro dealers also get direct text and email access to their coach between calls. Plus dealers are self-serve between calls. Each call is a working session on your live data, not a status update.
Who are the Lotpop coaches?
Former dealers, GMs, and used car managers. They know what a slow Monday feels like and what the top-performing stores do differently. They learn your market, your price point, and your competitive set rather than coaching to national averages. The model comes from Jasen Rice, who spent 29 years on dealer lots and trained thousands of used car managers at vAuto before founding Lotpop.
How is a Performance Engineer different from a consultant or a vendor QBR?
A consultant drops a checklist and leaves. A vendor QBR happens once a quarter and mostly covers usage. A Performance Engineer shows up every week or every month, works from your live LotWalk data, writes down what your team committed to, and opens the next call by checking whether it happened. That loop is the difference between advice and accountability.
How fast should I expect results from coaching?
Most stores see measurable change in 30 days. The Performance Engineer installs the habits of the top 10% of stores over about 90 days, which is why LotWalk runs on a six-month agreement. Aggregate LotWalk client performance includes a 20-30% volume lift in 90 days, a 22x annual turn rate, and +$400 average gross per unit.
The takeaway

Data is only as good as the actions that come from it.

You can buy a dashboard anywhere. What you cannot buy from a dashboard is someone who opens Monday's call with last Monday's list and asks what happened. That is what a Performance Engineer is, and it is why LotWalk is software plus coaching plus accountability rather than any one of the three. The numbers already know which cars to work, which leads to call, and which reps to push. The coach is how it gets done. Stop looking at your numbers. Start working them.

A Lot Audit is a free working session. A Lotpop coach pulls up your live inventory and lead data and walks through what they see, the same way they would on a coaching call. You leave with findings either way.
